La Strada dell'extravergine Castel del Monte e La Strada dei vini DOC Castel del Monte in Scozia per la III Settimana della Cucina Italiana nel Mondo.
In occasione della III Settimana della Cucina Italiana nel Mondo, La Strada dell’Olio Extravergine Castel del Monte e La Strada dei vini DOC Castel del Monte saranno protagoniste nei giorni 20 e 21 novembre degli eventi organizzati a Edimburgo e a Glasgow. La rassegna internazionale mira a promuovere all’estero l’agroalimentare e la cucina italiana di qualità e intende valorizzarne, anche a fini turistici, i territori, le tradizioni della cucina regionale e i valori legati alla Dieta Mediterranea, cardine di una salubre ed equilibrata alimentazione.
La manifestazione scozzese è organizzata dall'Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Edimburgo in collaborazione con La Strada dell'Olio Extravergine Castel del Monte, La Strada del Vino DOC Castel del Monte e con il patrocinio del Comune di Andria.
L'evento offrirà l'opportunità di conoscere la tradizione gastronomica locale e della zona di Castel del Monte attraverso la degustazione guidata dei vini DOC e degli oli ricavati dalle cultivar autoctone.
Antonio Caputo e Maria Teresa Pellegrino illustreranno le peculiari caratteristiche dei vini e degli extravergini soffermandosi sugli aspetti tipici e distintivi delle produzioni con riferimento anche alla storia e alla cultura di un territorio noto al mondo intero per la bellezza del castello fatto costruire dall’imperatore Federico II di Svevia nel XIII secolo.
Clou della serata di mercoledì a Glasgow, la cena a base di specialità tipiche e di piatti della cucina del territorio. Interprete d'eccezione sarà lo chef stellato Felice Sgarra, del Ristorante Umami di Andria, che presenterà le sue preparazioni ispirate alla tradizione, rinverdite da un originale tocco creativo.
“Sono molteplici i motivi - ha sottolineato Pinuccio Marmo, Presidente della Strada dei Vini DOC Castel del Monte – che hanno suggerito la nostra partecipazione all’iniziativa in Scozia. Il respiro internazionale dell’evento consentirà di aprire una vetrina prestigiosa sui nostri produttori con l’opportunità di far conoscere all’estero le peculiarità di vini che ormai si impongono per la loro qualità all’attenzione dei consumatori e dei professionisti della ristorazione. Sono segnali positivi che vanno sorretti con progetti di valorizzazione facendo leva anche sugli aspetti emozionali presenti in un territorio ricco di storia e di tradizioni”.
Anche Nunzio Liso, Presidente della Strada dell’Olio Extravergine Castel del Monte ha espresso la sua soddisfazione per la partecipazione alla rassegna scozzese.
“Siamo grati all'Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Edimburgo per l’invito e siamo grati ai nostri produttori che vi hanno risposto con meritorio slancio. Il loro olio sarà presente in Scozia, dove la popolazione non utilizza abitualmente l’extravergine. Ci troviamo, quindi, di fronte a una sfida stimolante che ci impegna ad adottare incisive azioni strategiche per avviare il posizionamento del nostro extravergine anche su tali mercati. L’evento rappresenta anche un importante momento di promozione dei nostri luoghi, custodi di un sapere antico, di conoscenze secolari, di tradizioni che si tramandano di generazione in generazione e che perpetuano e descrivono al meglio i tratti identitari del territorio. In tal senso sono significative le adesioni del Consorzio della burrata di Andria e della Condotta delle Murge di Slow Food”.

The Castel del Monte Extra Virgin Olive Oil Route and the Castel del Monte DOC Wine Route in Scotland for the 3rd Week of Italian Cuisine in the World.
With the opportunityof the 3rd Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, the Castel del Monte Extra Virgin Olive Oil Road and the Castel del Monte DOC Wine Route will be protagonists of the events organized in Edinburgh and Glasgow on November 20 th and 21 th.
The international exhibition aims to promote quality Italian food and cooking abroad and would like to promote, even for tourism, the territories, the traditions of regional cuisine and the values linked to the Mediterranean Diet, the cornerstone of a healthy and balanced diet.
The Scottish event is organized by the Italian Institute of Culture in Edinburgh in collaboration with the Castel del Monte Extra Virgin Olive Oil Road, the Castel del Monte DOC Wine Route and under the patronage of the Municipality of Andria.
Tthe event wants to give the opportunity to learn about the local gastronomic tradition and the area of Castel del Monte through the guided tasting of DOC wines and oils obtained from native cultivars.
Antonio Caputo and Maria Teresa Pellegrino will illustrate the peculiar characteristics of wines and extra-virgin wines, focusing on the typical and distinctive aspects of the production with reference to the history and culture of a territory known to the entire world for the beauty of the castle built by Emperor Frederick II of Swabia in the 13th century. Clou of the Wednesday evening in Glasgow, dinner with typical specialties and local cuisine.
An outstanding performer will be the starred chef Felice Sgarra, from the Umami Restaurant in Andria, who will present his preparations inspired by tradition, refreshed by an original creative touch.
"There are many reasons - said Pinuccio Marmo, President of the Castel del Monte DOC Wine Road - who have suggested our participation in the initiative in Scotland. The international breath of the event will allow us to open a prestigious showcase on our producers with the opportunity to make known abroad the peculiarities of wines that now stand out for their quality to the attention of consumers and catering professionals. These are positive signs that must be supported with valorisation projects, also leveraging the emotional aspects present in a territory rich in history and traditions ".
Even Nunzio Liso, President of the Extra Virgin Olive Oil Road Castel del Monte expressed his satisfaction for participating in the Scottish event. "We are grateful to the Italian Institute of Culture in Edinburgh for the invitation and we are grateful to our producers who have responded with meritorious momentum. Their oil will be present in Scotland, where the population does not usually use extra virgin olive oil.
We are therefore faced with a challenge that commits us to adopt incisive strategic actions to start the positioning of our extra virgin even on these markets. The event is also an important moment for the promotion of our places, custodians of ancient knowledge,secular knowledge, traditions that are handed down from generation to generation and which perpetuate and best describe the identity features of the territory. In this way, the collaboration with the Consortium of the burrata of Andria and Slow Food are very important ".

The Italian Cuisine Week in the World is an initiative started by the Italian government to support Italian culinary traditions with the purpose of highlighting
sustainability, food security, education, territory and biodiversity. On the occasion of the III Italian Cuisine Week, the Italian Institute of Culture in Edinburgh has organised a week of events promoting the Mediterranean Diet. Castel Del Monte: Le Strade dell’ Olio e dei Vini, introduces two networks of producers from Castel del Monte area whose activities aim at the preservation, enhancement and promotion of the quality and uniqueness of the region vineyards and olive groves. DOP extra virgin olive oils, DOC wines and traditional food from the Castel del Monte area will be showcased. The event will offer a unique opportunity to learn the gastronomic tradition of Castel del Monte.
Antonio Caputo and Maria Teresa Pellegrino will introduce the audience to some of the region DOC wines and the extra-virgin DOP olive oils. There will be the opportunity to taste the delicacies prepared by chef Felice Sgarra (one Michelin-starred chef from Umami Restaurant), a passionate promoter of Italian gastronomy, who marries his innovative cooking approach to the authentic tradition and high-quality products. The event is organised in collaboration with La Strada dell’Olio, e Le Strade dei Vini Castel del Monte, Umami Restaurant, Consorzio della burrata di Andria and under the patronage of Comune di Andria.
